The Founder's Story
In 1968, Paul Hsu arrived in the United States with a bachelor's degree in English Language and Literature from the Taiwan National University. He came to the US to pursue further education, earning a master's degree in social work from the University of Denver in 1971. After graduation, he took on a role as a social worker at Wisconsin’s Department of Health and Social Services in Fond du Lac. Paul is the 10th of 14 children and was born in Penghu, Taiwan. He is the first person in his family to attend college and immigrate to the United States.

He learned that Marathon County, not far from where he lived at the time, was home to several ginseng growers. Curious and determined, Paul drove to a local farm, knocked on the door and asked the farmer to share their knowledge about the crop.

About ten months later, he received a letter from his father with a simple, profound message: “The ginseng worked. Send more.” This experience made Paul a firm believer in the power of ginseng and its potential to improve lives.
